Many reasons can cause a leak at the base of a kitchen faucet. The most common reason is that the valve seat is worn out. This happens over time as people use the faucet to wash dishes or even just turn on the water in their sink. Once it becomes loose, it will start leaking from underneath where the valve seat meets with your sink.
If this is not something you have time to fix yourself, you should contact a plumber who can remove and replace your old valve seat with a new one in order to stop any further leaks from happening.
A low-pressure kitchen faucet usually means the water is moving too slowly through the pipes, so you might need to replace an old washer. If you notice a problem with your kitchen faucet, remove it and inspect it to see if there are any signs of damage. If your kitchen faucet has a cartridge (a piece between the handle and pipe) you’ll need to check that first. The next thing to check is the copper pipe where the water comes out of the wall. You may need to get a plumber or handyperson for this one but be careful not to push or drill into any other parts of your plumbing system!
